Meg Patton, single mother and the newest deputy of the Elk Springs Sheriff's Department, has finally come home. It's time for Meg to reconcile with her sisters---and past time to introduce them to her son. It might even be the right time to let herself fall in love. And even though she wasn't looking for one, she's found a likely candidate for the last part. Scott McNeil discovered an abandoned baby one night, and Meg was the officer called to investigate. She's attracted to him from the start---he's good-looking and great with the baby. So when the baby's mother is found dead, Meg must prove he's innocent, because she knows he can't be guilty. And she has to prove it---they have to prove it---for her sake, as well as his. This is a great book. It's the second book in the Patton's Daughters trilogy, but it easily stands alone. With a fresh take on the traditional woman-returning-to-home-with-her-son-that-no-one-knows-about story line, it stays fresh and engaging all the way through. Janice Johnson is one of my favorite autors. She makes the people in her books very realistic. This book is no exception. It has a detailed storyline, and great charecter's! I couldn't put it down untill I read the very last word. What an enthralling story!! It is a sequel to The Woman in Blue, which is another great book! The story is part of a trio of books labeled Patton's Daughter's. This was such a great book, I can not wait until I can read the third book of this series!!
