Book Overview

Everyone in the world, it seems, is either prettier or thinner (or both) than Beauty Marie Zavala. And the only thing "B" resents more than her name is the way others judge her for the extra 40 pounds... This description may be from another edition of this product.

fighting for beautiful

I loved this book because it fearlessly captures what every woman goes through in all it's absurdity and darkness and tenderness on her way to discovering what makes her beautiful. You will never look at yourself the same again after reading this book because it changes allows you to rethink the way you see yourself in the world for all it's flaws and qualities. And it does so without being smoltzy. It shows you how to fight for the right to enjoy your appearance-un apolegetically and with a great laugh!

B as in Beauty

I thought it was a great book. It was not too short nor was it too long. The characters really caught my attention. the only person, they left hanging was Alberto, have no clue what happened to him, but all in all I would recommend this book to all of my friends. Oh wait, I think I know what happened to him, lol. But it was what I needed in a time of depression and doubt about my own life. I would like to know if the author, Alberto, since then, has written other books about Beauty or other characters in similar or different situations. Would love to read.

the thin man gets in touch with the heavy girl

As a thin man, I wouldn't have expected that I would have liked B as in Beauty so much. But I loved this book. It made me think a lot more about how tough it can be to be heavyset, especially in a world that celebrates anorexia in the fashion media. Let's face it: we can say it's all about diet and exercise, but sometimes peoples bodies are just different. I am thin and will likely always be thin no matter what I eat or do. I go to the gym and never gain muscle. I also take the protein drinks. But no muscle ever develops. I think this book will be a fantastic beach read. As you are lying in the sand half naked in the sun, you can contemplate how everyone feels a bit nervous about their bodies around you and have a good laugh as you read a great story.

B for Brilliant

I loved it. B is a fascinating character, a wonderful role model. I absolutely loved it.

Great read especially if you suffer from body image issues.

It's amazing to me that a male author could possibly understand what it is like to be a woman that has a less that perfect body in a body obsessed world. However, Ferreras does this so unbelievable well that I found myself checking to make sure he was a guy. A good book can make you think a great book can make you want to do a major overhaul on part of your life. This is a great book. As a woman that has always struggled with body image I found myself feeling confident, sexy, and proud of the body that I have been given after reading this book. Ferraras has a way of reveling the inner most thoughts of a fat chick and letting you know that you don't need to feel that way about yourself through a very intriguing and touching story. I don't want to go into a long review of this book because I literally didn't put it down for two days it was that engaging. So all I can say is read the book and hopefully find a way to love yourself just a little more at the end.
