Are you hungry?

I have read the reviews of Dr. Phillips' book and I have read Dr. Phillips' book. If you will look at the negative reviews of this book you will find them to be logically and historically based. I find all of their arguments, however, to be completely unbiblical. I, for one, am tired of people who can more readily quote church history than they can the Word of God.Are you hungry for God? Are you living your Christian life somehow knowing there must be more than what you're experiencing? Then buy this book and devour it, friend, because there is food here for your soul. Don't be discouraged by "professional letterwriters" who having nothing better to do than to be critical. If you want an OBJECTIVE, BIBLICAL view of what God is capable of doing in your life written with great sensitivity by a scholarly man of God, buy Awakened By the Spirit and go on with God.. I challenge you to read Awakened By the Spirit along with your Bible and ASK GOD if what you're reading is true. Remember His promise in John 14: HE will lead you into all truth. You can trust Him.

Read before you throw stones....

I love Ron Phillip's Awakened by the Spirit. It's very ecumenical in outlook and it encourages readers to be OPEN to the Holy Spirit working within and around us in many different ways. I, too, am tired of the tearing down and back-stabbing that occurs in regards to other denominations. It is refreshing to read someone who is open to ALL the Holy Spirit has to offer, as I, also, begin to explore beyond the confines of my denomination. The BIG question is: is the power of God on your life?? Phillips gives us fascinating details about past revivals and other historical periods of "awakening" which very much ressemble what is beginning to go on now in various pockets of the world. I think I am going to order 10 copies for friends and church leaders. May you read this and begin to receive "kisses from Our Father".

Spiritual awakening

I have read the other reviews of this book and though that it was being attacked rather poorly. After reading the book my desire and thirst for more of GOD has increased. That is the purpose of this book. I found that there was a semblance of balance and that it was for the most part objective. He did not go over into any "fringe" view. AS born-again believers GOD does want us to be filled with HIS SPIRIT. The purpose for that is to live holy lives and HE empowers us for witness. PLEASE read this book from the heart and not the mind. The big picture is a closer walk with GOD. I am a Baptist and many of the things he stated are true and I know that if our traditional and religious bias was cast aside and w hungered for GOD, He would show up in our lives. I am tired of religion just give me the WORD and THE HOLY SPIRIT.

Historically and Scripturally Enlightened

Having been a Baptist all of my life I found Dr. Phillips' book to be very challenging. I found myself searching the scriptures and prayerfully considering the content. I must say that when I place the Bible beside Dr. Phillips' book I can find nothing but truth. I believe Awakened by the Spirit to be the most historically and scripturally accurate treatise on the Holy Spirit and His work in the New Testament Church in the past several decades. I believe his kind but honest approach toward cessationism exposes it as the greatest apostasy in the 20th century church. I appreciate His transparancy and his honesty. Thank you Dr. Phillips for helping the 21st Century Church return to Her spiritual roots. I highly reccommend this book to those who are seeking the truth about the work of the Holy Spirit in the New Testament Church.

Logical and orderly explanation of the current move of God

I am a born again Sourthern Baptist who was raised in the traditional SBC church. I grew up learning scripture and singing glorious hymns, but I always knew there was more. The words of the hymns did not line up with what we were experiencing in church life. I could not understand why we "didn't believe" in tongues and prophecy but we believed God healed. My questions about the Holy Spirit were mostly unanswered. Almost 10 years ago I participated in Experiencing God and I knew nothing would be the same, SBC churches would change under the influence of this study, but I still had questions. My family left the traditional SBC church five years ago and joined a "spirit filled" congregation with SBC roots, still I had questions. As these godly people tried to teach and explain there were still barriers. THIS BOOK broke down all those barriers and has enabled me to fully understand and embrace the current move of God. This book will open they eyes, minds and hearts of Southern Baptists as well as other evangelicals and God's kingdom here on earth will be greatly multiplied. The old hymns will take on new meaning as God's people reclaim the power and victory that He intended for his people. I attacked the scripture based book and immediately ordered six more for friends and family. I can hardly wait to share what I have learned and experienced. Do not hesitate to purchase two copies: one for your personal library and one for your church library.
