Avatar: The Last Airbender – The Rift Part Three (Team Avatar Must Defeat Yangchen’s Past Foe)

Avatar: The Last Airbender – The Rift Part Three begins with The Dark One, Ho Tun, and Penga teaching the new confused metalbending students. Sokka and Appa appear and gather them to help Toph. Aang asks for updates from Katara just to hear her voice. Katara offers her bending water to Toph, and Satoru helps Toph drink it by holding the bag for her. Satoru and Toph talk while Toph upholds the iron ore to prevent them from being squashed. They learn they have much more in common than they thought, like how they both ran away from home. After Satoru’s parents formed an underground pro-Ozai society, Satoru moved to the lower ring of Ba Sing Se, where he encountered Loban with a job proposition. Satoru hadn’t discovered how greedy his uncle was until now. Toph takes back her insult, while Satoru admires her, wishing he was as brave as her. Lao asks Satoru for a moment with his daughter. In case they die, Lao wants Toph to know how much he loves her and what happened after Master Yu and Xin Fu failed to bring Toph home. Toph assures him they will not die because she is the greatest earthbender in the world. Aang informs The Dark One, Ho Tun, and Penga that they must remove the iron ore to save Toph and everyone else. Despite their lack of self-confidence and the creepy mask they find, they manage to save everyone. Toph collapses from exhaustion, but other than that, they are okay. Toph’s students meet Lao while Aang and Katara kiss. Nutha shows her gratitude to Katara. On the other hand, Loban orders the two Rough Rhinos, Kahchi and Vachir, to gather the Komodo Rhinos and take the iron ore mask to the ship. I didn’t even realize the archer was the same person who tried to murder Ikem for Ozai years back. With a storm fast approaching and Yangchen appearing, Aang needs to speak with Yangchen. He engraves a new Fire Nation emblem and attaches it to his meditation beads, restoring his connection with Avatar Roku. After a brief, happy reunion between the two Avatars, Aang asks Yangchen to finish the rest of her story. General Old Iron agreed never to attack the area again if Yangchen had the people leave and restored the land to its former glory. Now that Yangchen’s promise is broken, Aang must re-uphold it. Aang tells his friends they must return the iron ore and destroy the refinery. Katara is in charge of evacuating the village, while Satoru and Sokka must get the iron mask back from Loban. Aang is upset about having to destroy the town, but he has no choice because General Old Iron is on his way. When Toph wakes up, Aang’s in the Avatar State, and Lao informs Toph and her students about Aang’s plan. Toph and her students prevent Aang from destroying the refinery. Sokka and Satoru prevent Loban and the Rough Rhinos from stealing the mask, but General Old Iron outpowers them. While General Old Iron puts his mask back on, Aang and Toph argue whether the town and refinery should be destroyed. Aang battles Toph and her students, but they stop when General Old Iron gathers his armor. Katara saves Sokka, Satoru, and Loban, who are dangling from General Old Iron’s mask. General Old Iron doesn’t give Aang a chance to talk this out. Aang forms a body of rock to combat General Old Iron, which looks quite impressive. Toph orders her students to help Aang as they rush into the fight. The metalbenders remove General Old Iron’s armor, exposing a vulnerable chest. Toph orders Aang to direct his bending at that spot. Aang doesn’t want to hurt the spirit until he threatens Toph and her students. Aang offers Katara to heal General Old Iron, but General Old Iron refuses their help, believing that humans and spirits cannot coexist. He turns into some other types of spirits and dives underwater. Aang is upset that he couldn’t save General Old Iron, but he does save Toph and her students. She does thank Aang. Lao asks the miners to help him rebuild while the Air Acolytes help feed the miners. There might be some romance between The Dark One and Yee-Li. T
