A funny, unique play!

Yvette Heyliger's Autobiography of a Homegirl was a unique story about a light-skinned black woman who searches (and finds) her identity, while raising her daughter (Hope) in the same light and making sure she knows how to love herself as who she is. The Barbie icon was a humorous but meaningful addition to the play as the "ideal woman" that has grappled the self esteem of many young women in America. It sheds light on the problem many girls face in society today as what is 'beauty' and how to love yourself despite whatever standards have already been set.
