A rich well of writing

I love this book, and I am well into my second read of it. We have all heard admonitions such as "write from the heart." This book goes far deeper in its descriptive urging toward and narrative illustration of the art of writing that responds to and draws words from a deepening well of being. Poole calls it, authentic writing. Hard to put a label on his work is, and well his book is well worth at least one read. The author speaks of growing up within the confines and lineage of a book family (authors and publishers), and a boarding school in New Hampshire. This book reflects the emergence of the authors unique voice. He also speaks to our real and human need to identify, to own and ideally to write out the pivotal experiences of our life, for otherwise we risk being held captive in the haunting grip of our past. Poole's book inspires the finding and flowing of our own voice - boils, warts and all - with complete disregard for for the confines of convention. This is surely the most important thing we can do as it brings us, ultimately, to the truth of who we are and of the world we live in.

Very Entertaining and Informative!

Since the moment I opened the book when it arrived, I couldn't put it down! While reading Fred Poole's fascinating memoirs, you gain knowledge, through his experience and wisdom, on how to go about writing your own personal story! I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to start writing memoirs, or has been doing it for many years. Fred Poole explains in such great example how he found his own writing voice, and how you can, too. Before reading this book, writing my own memoirs were a struggle, and I dreaded it. There are so many things I learned during reading each chapter that I just never thought of before. I now look forward to writing, and do it with far more confidence and clarity. It's something that I'm now proud of! Now I know what AUTHENTIC WRITING really means! Thank you, Fred Poole, for writing this fantastic book!
