Although Dr. Atkin's New Diet Revolution (complete with recipes) is one of the top 50 best-selling books ever published -with more than 15 million copies in print - this is the first time that we have presented recipes with photographs. We are confident that this premiere edition will be the first of many. It is fitting that our focus is on food. The success of any long-term weight-control program comes down to offering a wide array of delicious, palate-tempting, easy-to-prepare dishes. After all, no matter how strong your commitment to slim down, if the prescribed food is boring or tasteless, or if it leaves you always feeling hungry, it's just a matter of time before you revert to the way of eating that got you in trouble in the first place. And therein lies the problem with most low-fat, low-calorie weight-loss programs. The food - and the quantity - just isn't satisfying. After you do Atkins, it is a very different story. You eat filling portions of delectable foods. Because natural fats, such as olive oil, cream, and butter actually help you lose weight when you control the amount of carbohydrates you eat, you get to enjoy such luxurious dishes as Crispy Buttermilk Fried Chicken, Roast Beef with Horseradish Crust, and Double Chocolate-Pecan Ice Cream. Secondly, unlike a diet, the Atkins program is not something that you stop after you've lost pounds. Indeed, you move through four increasingly liberal phases, so that by the time you've reached your goal weight, you'll have learned a new and permanent way of eating. That know-how will allow you to control your weight - once and for all. Your days of yo-yo dieting will soon be a thing of the distant memory! The recipes that follow should dispel many myths. For example: ***On Atkins you just eat steak and lamb chops. - Of the hundred plus main dish recipes, dozens are for poultry, fish, or shellfish. We even offer a chapter on vegetarian recipes. ***On Atkins you can't eat vegetables and fruits -- The Salad and Sides chapter should put that falsehood to bed, once and for all. ***There's nothing to eat for breakfast but bacon and eggs - Wong again. Check out the Breakfast and Brunch chapter for a host of other start-the-day-right treats. ***You can't exercise you sweet tooth on Atkins - See what awaits you in Desserts and Sweets. The biggest myth of all is that the food you eat when you do Atkins is boring or bland. The truth is that with the recipes that follow, you'll be able to craft a way of eating that suits your palate as well as your waiste-line. But before you whip out the skillet and tie on the apron, take the time to read our brief summary of the four phases of Atkins, and the list of ingredients that will make Atkins even easier. Note also that each recipe indicates the phase of Atkins for which it is appropriate, the correct serving size, and nutritional data. Although we provide the grams of fat and calorie count for those of you used to low-fat programs, the only numbers yo
Excellent low-carb cookbook

I've tried numerous low-carb cookbooks and this is by far the best. The recipes are innovative and combine ingredients one wouldn't necessarily think of - for example, a salad with radicchio, blue cheese and a little wild rice. The vegetarian mu shu wraps are another favorite, and the book has a great vegetarian section. Every recipe I've tried has been delicious. One caveat, however - one recipe recommended Atkins pasta, which was terrible. Get another type of pasta if you can. But by all means pick up this book. It's great!
