intelligent author and useful material

Let me first preface my review with the fact that the author's copyright date is 1997. This might deter the interests of some who desire the most up-to-the-minute knowledge of this topic, but the fact of the matter is that, when dealing with most books and strategies of this kind, it is in the prudent and in the time-tested that we find our most valuable resources and not in the most modern. With that caution of the age of the material now set aside, I shall tell you the author writes competently, intelligently, and on a broad number of topics as they pertain to asset protection planning, including but not limited to: 1) limited liability companies, 2) foreign asset protection trusts, 3) family limited partnerships, 4) corporations, 5) the collection process, and 6) fraudulent transfers. The book almost requires, or at the very least, would be easier to read, with an already thorough (or, at minimum, basic) understanding of the topics at hand. The author takes the liberty of 1) citing statutes, 2) discussing the highly technical legal aspects of various approaches, and 3) thoroughly analyzing, in appropriately complex language (without the use of excessive simplification or "dumbening" of the information) the topics he discusses, all in a way such that the vocabulary and strategies employed are more appropriate reading for accountants, attorneys, and those specialized in the field than for those who are just learning about the topic. I am not a "friend" of the author, as so often happens to be the case with many reviews and reviewers, but rather an uninterested third party and independent analyzer. I rate the book 5 stars for 1) its complexity, 2) the intelligence of the author, 3) the broadness of the materials covered, and 4) its successful review of the topics the title of the book promises to cover. It is well-written and covers many of the essential elements of asset protection. WHO MIGHT WANT TO WAIT BEFORE BUYING? If you're just learning about the topic, you might consider adding this to your "wish list" and buying it later; I suspect newcomers might find the material dry and excessively technical, but that is merely my opinion and if that sort of thing interests you, then more power to you.
