Comprehensive, informed, and fascinating

This book tells a fascinating story of our government's response to the Social Security crisis of 1982. The author draws from numerous sources, as he worked like an embedded reporter and was privy to many meetings others did not attend. He obviously has a wide understanding of governmental processes, and relates this crisis to many other socio-political events. The political cartoons are a great comic relief for such a weighty and potentially dry subject.
