excellent informative reading for children

The book consists of 26 chapters, of which four are devoted briefly to Egyptian art from the Old, the Middle and the New Kingdoms. The remainder deal with Mesopotamian, Assyrian, Babylonian, Greek, Etruscan, Roman and Islamic art. The book starts in 3000 BC and ends in 1000 AD. The Egyptian chapters deal with the rules of Egyptian art, the belief in life after death, art of Thebes, Valley of the Kings, Akhenaten and Hatshepsut. A glossary explaining terms used throughout the book (from "acropolis" to "ziggurat") is included. Clearly presented and well-written, it is an ideal introduction for children ages 9 to 12.
