I got this book the first time when I was 8 or 9 years old. I found it in sale bin at a book store. At that age it was the designs that fascinated me. Since I couldn't get crewel wool, I put it away. I picked it again after college, & being more mature fell in love with book. It has good stitch diagrams, clearly explains crewel embroidery in simple & understandable ways. The pictures are in black & white, it doesn't take anything away from the book, they're very good pictures. I always intended to use it to start doing crewel embroidery. In between came marriage, a child then divorce. I moved to another state, & left the book behind hoping it would be packed with later things arriving after the move. It didn't & later my ex sister in law did something with it. This book stayed on my mind, I wished I could buy it again. When I saw available through Thrifty Books, I was so happy. Once more I have a copy of one of my favorite books. Lately there's been a slew of books written about Jacobean designs done in alternative threads, & simply reinterpreted with floss & beads. I have a few of those books, the addition of this one will keep me busy for awhile. I was 8or 9 when I first got this book, I'm now 64, why I loved has changed, ideas, & styles may have changed, but I always found a reason to love this book.
