Unbelievable!

I'm not saying that this isn't true, but the story itself is amazing. What a wonderful book. Personally, I don't think that the daughter looks like Elvis, but as I believe it was Hank Williams wife recalls that Elvis talked about a love of his named Lucy. Coincidence, Who knows. If there was a DNA test taken, that would prove one way or another. I find the pictures of Lucy with Elvis' uncle very interesting interesting. Whether this is true or not is not for me to judge. However, this book was definitely a great read. It was heartbreaking to say the least. You be the judge! It will captivate you. A must read. Enjoy

You better believe it's true

Desiree and Lucy are personal friends of mine. It's incredible how much Desiree looks more and more like Elvis as she matures. I'm absolutely blessed to know her. She sadly never did meet him, but people around today that knew him say her playfulness and mannerisms are so much like him and they knew him off screen.

Most essential reading

After reading about 20 Elvis books, I know this story is absolutely true. Perhaps the times and places are not 100% accurate but that is irrevelant. I think she's protecting Elvis a little for the sake of her daughter because that's what Lucy does best!!Now we understand what motivated Elvis' behavior (ie making Anita, Priscilla dye hair black along with choosing other petite black/brunettes and/or dancers) going to Paris,(Priscilla's French and dancing lessons) listening to Charles Boyer (Softly As I Leave You)(Where does Love Go)(What Now my Love) along with all those tear jerking songs in the early 60's. And all those hand and arm signals. Just go to youtube and see for yourself. Elvis led such a conflicted life, perhaps making more wrong than right choices. Your first love especially at eighteen is most often your strongest. I think this was the case with him. Charlie Hodge along with others said that his mood the night before he died was very good. I think Elvis accidentally took the Codeine instead of the Dilaudid since they look identical that fateful night.

WHAT'S NOT TO BELIEVE??

I was skeptical before buying the book that there could possibly be a story out there that I hadn't heard about Elvis. Especially a story as major as this one...I had read dozens of Elvis books and saw all the movies and documentaries, and i had never even heard the name Lucy de Barbin before this. When I sat down to read it, I expected to read some sort of unbelievable yet entertaining delusional fantasy about Elvis, but was surprised that the story and all the facts in the book were actually very believable and possible. Some find it hard to believe that such secrets could have been kept for so long, but times were different then. People did keep secrets because there were so many things that were looked upon as shameful and disgraceful during that era. Everything is different today because of the media and paparazzi, but back then, private lives were kept private and Ms. de Barbin's reasons for keeping this affair to herself are completely valid. The facts in the book mesh with everything else I've learned about Elvis over the years and even answer a few unanswered questions that I'm sure many Elvis fans have wondered about. Read it for yourself before you form your opinion. It is a wonderful love story as well as a gift to Elvis fans everywhere. P.S. As far as the eye color debate goes...I have blue eyes and both of my parents' eyes are BROWN. Go figure.

inspireing book

I have never read such a heart wrenching book as this one. what a truely courageous women is Lucy she could of had it all but instead she protected her daughter and her one true loveBeing an elvis fan i believe elvis would still be alive today if he had known the truth because this women loved him unconditionlyyou have to wander with so many freinds and minders elvis had how they could have let him get to the life style that killed him i believe lucy would not have allowed this to happenPerhaps knowing the love elvis had for lucy and the love she had for him was the only true real thing elvis had.

i believe.

i truly believe that lucy did know elvis and was loved deeply by him . what a great tragedy that they could not be together and that lucy never found the courage to tell him of his daughters exsistance.i feel certain that had lucy and elvis been allowed to be together elvis would have been alive today.a true love story if elvis were still alive would he not be with lucy?. i loved reading this book in fact i have read it so often that its falling to bits .

IS ELVIS STILL ALIVE? I SAY YES!

I NEVER BELIEVED BEFORE, BUT I THINK I DO NOW AFTER HAVING READ HARDCOVER VERSION OF [ ARE YOU LONESOME TONIGHT BY LUCY DE BARBIN AND DARY MATERA.
