Dr. Bockstoce provides an account of his historic artic journey in such a personal and inviting way that you are immediately on the trip without the discomforts. Not long into the book, I found myself his traveling companion. I constantly referred to the maps provided to see where I was as he described the scenes in such a vivid and personal manner. Aside from the travel adventure, Dr. Bockstoce provides a lesson in accomplishment that is extraordinary and consistent with the spirit of all explorers; stay focused and proceed with all strength, ingenuity, purpose, and integrity of the mission. A must read if you have a desire to slip away into another world and come back refreshed having made a new friend.
