Architecture in North America

This book illustrates several important architectural project that defines where American architecture stands in relation to the rest of the world. American architects have turned their creative forces loose on the landscape and have developed some very intriguing buildings. A couple of note that I am impressed with are the Museum of Anthropology at the University of British Columbia and the United States Pavilion at Expo 67 (which is a precursor to Epcot Center or so it appears to me). This is a specialized book that diagrams out each piece and provides both photos (taken by professionals for maximum effect) and cross sectional drawings. While most readers will pass this volume by, it is worth a look for those interested in the subject, or for model railroaders looking for that ultimate challenge in a scratch built structure.

Quality book

There are a lot of books like this one, sticks out for me. 1 The choice of buildings has some nice surprises, although there are some books that are more complete. 2 The images and drawings are well chosen and explanatory. 3 The text included is way more relevant informative and readable than on most similar books 4 It is well made, good cover and good quality paper. 5 Alexander Tzonis is a good architecture critic, see his books about Santiago Calatrava. So this a great book for what it is, worth checking out for anyone interested in American architecture in the last 50 years. Get one for cheap and it is a great present too.
