Charming, whimsical applique patterns--fantastic!

I have bought a number of Piece O'Cake books, and each one teaches me something new about applique. The thing I love about this one is the variety of designs. This book contains 100 charming applique patterns and five or six projects combining the blocks. Piece O'Cake originally published a book called "Dear Pin Pal" that had 50 applique designs. This new book combines those 50 designs and adds 50 new ones. Among others there are multiple flowers, trees, teapots, shoes, hats, houses, cats, chickens, and of course a piece of cake! If you have tried Becky and Linda's foolproof techniques taught in "The Applique Sampler" (something I highly recommend if you are serious about learning to applique) and you want to combine some applique blocks to make something all your own, this is the book for you. The chicken quilt is my favorite. It combines simple patchwork, fabulous fabric and color selection, and applique for a charming quilt. ***FYI There is a printing error. The blocks were printed at 4-1/4" inches instead of 5", which the body of the book says. This is important to know when enlarging designs to fit a specific space. The publisher has included a yellow sheet stuck to the inside cover explaining the error and how to enlarge the blocks at their printed size. Since these are applique patterns, the error does not detract from the usefulness or value of the book.***

This book has TONS of great patterns! There are tons of flower patterns all are original ideas, never seen before flowers. There are also several houses, household items like a telephone, apron, chair, there are several butterfly and a dragonfly patterns and lots more. Along with all of these patterns, the authors show you several ideas for turning the patterns into quilts. An idea that I thought was great was that the authors created a redwork quilt using their applique patterns! If you have a tricky time with math this book makes it easy to enlarge or shrink the patterns you want to create. Also included are terrific directions easy enough for beginners. This is an amazing collection of patterns by a couple of great women.
