"Appalachian Proud", a novel of a boy named Charley who is the 8th son of 9 brothers and one sister, with her being the tenth child to be born to this couple, James William and Agnes Pearl Coots, a West Virginia coal miner family supporting their livelihood from the production of coal in the early years of the 1930's and beyond. Charley born may 27, 1945 and raised in small communities of coal camps through out southern Boone county West Virginia, with him having to walk great distances to school in the Appalachian mountain regions always testing his ability to overcome his trials and tribulations of the area in which he lived and had to endure circumstances of his learning experiences, some being pleasant and some down right scary.
