Creates a feel for place & time

A simple love story combined with reconciliation between generations. Stuart Harrison paints a picture of life and scenery of a Greek Island and the contrast between life there and in the world's more busstling cities. Set in the present day the story moves back to the German occupation during WWII telling the story of the affects of a liaison between a Greek girl and a German officer through the exploration by their grandaughter who is visiting looking for answers. The man she meets on the island is himself the estranged son of an Englishman who had lived there for many years, he is trying to understand his late father better. Together they get involved in puzzling events which provide the answers they seek and form the link between then and now. Well written, flows easily and keeps the attention to the end.
