A most fascinating study of love lore!

Aphrodesiacs and Love Magic is the most fascinating piece of love folklore I have read (not that I have read many but as a practicing Pagan and Witch this stuff comes up often in other books). This is the most concise and pleasant-to-read book, you can tell a lot of time and research went into it, small as it is in size. It has numerous references and correspondences for medieval love folklore, charms, recipes, food, herbs, flowers, sayings and more. I read it entranced by all the things they did in ancient and medieval times to promote love, lust, fertility, fidelity, marriage and more. Some are rather disgusting like using a hummingbird heart or white newborn calf and other odd concoctions to promote lust or fidelity, but regardless it's a fascinating slice of history that most of us would otherwise never see, gross or not (most is not). However, Witches looking for a spellbook or love spells beware: there are no spells or anything in a "how-to" sense, but as reference material and for the correspondences of flowers, food, herbs and love charms, all geared for love and lust, this book it is well worth the money. Much of it could be incorporated into our modern lives, especially for weddings and "special evenings" *g* Overall it is simply a fascinating and educational bit of love and lust folklore from earlier times, pre-Viagra!
