A Well-Written Take on a Familiar Storyline

A man and a woman are best friends (and nothing but friends) for 14 years. During this time, the woman pines for the guy, who remains oblivious and beds every woman who catches his eye. One day, the woman decides she can't take it anymore and has to move on with her life. Her first step in this process is to get rid of her plain Jane/tomboy-esque haircut and clothes. Suddenly, the guy finds himself wildly attracted to his best friend. A great deal of hot sex, confusion, denial, and a lack of communication ensue, along with a fair amount of heartbreak and sadness (on both sides) until the end of the story. This isn't a new premise, by any means. However, this book is saved from being purely formulaic and cliche by Sarah Mayberry's skill at creating characters that are easy to care about. Sam and Delaney have their quirks and their flaws, but their friendship always seems very real. Beyond that, their sexual chemistry is off-the-charts, and their journey from friendship to something more truly does tug at the heartstrings. This is far from the typical, stale friends-to-lovers story that we're used to. Mayberry takes that old premise and reinvigorates it with so much steam and sincere emotion that the story becomes one of the best I've read with this particular theme.

Perfect ! ! !

This is what it's all about when it comes to a romance novel. Overdone or not I can't get enough of the best friends that fall in love. And this one was perfect. The sexual tension was great and the closeness between the characters was sweet. I've read this book twice and surely will again when I need a pick me up. I wish more Blaze books had this style of writing because latley they all seem to be getting cheesy. Sexual Content : Moderate/Strong

A Wonderful Read

This was a wonderful story about a young woman, Delaney, who has been in love with her best friend and business partner, Sam, for years. When she finally decides to distance herself from Sam and the business rather than face any more pain of not having her feelings returned, Sam cannot understand his friend's sudden change of plans...and as he tries to hold on to his friendship, he begins to see Delaney in a whole different way. I love Friends-to-lovers stories and really enjoyed how the author handled this plotline. This was a great...and steamy...story that I would recommend.

A Great Read, even with the old best-friends-turn-to-lovers cliche

Delanely has been in love with her best friend and business partner Sam for sixteen years -not that he would notice. So, she decides, after taking a vacation with her sisters family, that its really a family of her own that she wants. Sam obviously not interested and the only way for Delanely to move on with her get-a-husband-and-kids plan is to break ties with him -completely. She takes the drastic step of selling him her half of the business and moving out of her too-close-to-Sam apartment. He goes ballistic and can't understand why she would want leave the business and move away. Its just to painfull for her to be close to him -she needs a clean break. Will Sam realize what he's missing before its too late? Yes, you've read this story line before, but don't pass it up because of that! This story is really good and -uh- really steamy!!(insert major eyebrow wiggling here) A short read (under 250 pages) that you won't want to put down. Some steamy fun with a cute story that will have you fanning yourself.;)

Best friends Hmm?

I really had fun reading this book. I started reading and I couldn't put it down until I was done with it I recognized that I have a weakness for best friends falling in love type of story. I have read many romance novels with the same topic but this one oversees my expectations. Delaney was in love with Sam since she was 14 years old, but he didn't seem to notice her until she decided that it was time to move on and create her own family. What will Sam do in order to keep her? .......Anything I won't give you any mother hints about the story, so you can have fun. I hope you can laugh and enjoy the sensual tension between this two characters the way I did. At the end I felt like I wanted to get my own Sam. Grab this book and you won't be disappointed. I `m looking forward to read more Mrs. Mayberry books. I won't be selling this one is a keeper! Barbara
