Great Idea Book!

If you are looking for a different, not-so-serious take on being a bride, you'll enjoy this book. It's true that some of the ideas require big bucks and you may not have an enormous budget but this book is hilarious and is full of great and unusual wedding ideas, from sites to favors. I laughed out loud at some of their crazy ideas and then wrote them down copiously!I really think this is a must-read for the non-traditional bride. I checked it out at the library and read it cover to cover. One huge help: the authors have included a 'Day of' checklist that will be quite useful. Sadly, some of their web resources in the back of the book came up invalid for me.Look, some of the other reviewers don't have a sense of humor and must be resentful of those that have a lot of money to spend. I have a tiny (I mean TINY) budget and I can still appreciate some of the extraordinary weddings mentioned in the book...if only for a chuckle!

A piece of sanity

Fun and well-written, this is the book that made me stop hyperventilating when looking at wedding planners. This book understands that my wedding is NOT the most important day of my life, that my entire life thus far has NOT been looking forward to or leading up to my wedding. It tells me what I need to know and how to do it sanely, all the while offering great ideas from the wacky to uber-traditional.

Want to have a wedding, but not get stuck in a rut?

For those of us who shudder at the thought of wearing white at our weddings, or maybe you just think a little outside the box... this book is for you. Definitely more of an idea generator than an actual planner, it nonetheless does a very fine job of doing exactly what it's titled: A Guide for the Anti-Bride. Divided into chapters that are separated by tabbed pages with a small pocket for loose notes, the information is collated in a very organized fashion. The language is friendly, never high-handed (Emily Post, anyone?), and it certainly made me feel much better about deciding to have an actual wedding my way without the tradition police descending down upon my ceremony and reception.A great investment, especially paired with one of the larger "binder-style" wedding planners that tend to follow the more traditional route..

Anti-bride, but not anti-beautiful wedding of your dreams

This is a great choice for the bride to be who is concerned less with matching flowers to bridesmaid's dresses and more of having a beautiful and wonderful day to remember as you start your new life together. It is full of quirky and just plain wonderful ideas on creating the wedding of your dreams without sacrificing your own sense of style. Like the best tradional wedding planners, it has pockets to keep vital paper slips in, and the last chapter of the book is complete with just enough lists to keep vital info in one place, but not so many as to stress you out. The best part of this book by far is that it assumes that you are not going to stop living the rest of your life just to plan a wedding and that you would love the input of the groom to be because duh, he's getting married here too. The authors keep the tone lighthearted, take into account all the different kinds of couples and situations out there, and don't belittle you if your dream wedding is to go the whole Martha route. They focus less on how to cut corners, and more on making sure that you remember to incorporate the aspects of the ceremony that are the most important to you (even if that is only that you will wear a tiara). Everything else is just icing. Definitely worth it if only to destress after reading the other bridal books.

Finally, a wedding book for the rest of us!

I just got this and can't put it down! You girls rock! This is a fantastic book that offers straight talk about Do It Yourself Weddings that must have Vera Wang busting at the seams, and Martha Stewart confessing her sins. What can I say, this is a must read!!!
