Although this is considered to be juvenile literature, the author does a top-notch job of looking at Quinn's career and life. This biography looks at his multifacted talent as actor, writer, and artist. There is a lot of solid information on Quinn's commitment to continually improving his acting, especially in mastering "method acting." The book also surveys Quinn's movement from screen actor to stage actor. Most importantly, this book surveys Quinn's work in fighting the prevalent racism that he faced within Hollywood. By mastering his acting (some have viewed Quinn as selfish for being more concerned about his acting than the actual film product or working relationships with other actors) this formidable actor was able to challenge the sterotyping and typecasting that were forced on him in his early career. Altogether this is a very intriguing biography.
