Unable to further tolerate the mental and physical abuse dished out by his alcoholic, drug addict mother and her man friend, fifteen year-old Edward Anderson packs what few possessions he has and walks away from the family home in an upper middle class suburb of Birmingham, England's second city, in favour of a life living rough in the back streets of what might be considered one of the most socially and economically deprived areas of town. This story details how he survives, the people he meets and the close friendships gained as he struggles to come to terms with living life on the wrong side of the tracks. Despite the hardships, positive events occur, not the least of these being his association with other kids like him...... the forgotten in our society.
