Born Phoebe Ann Moss on August 13, 1860, Annie Oakley picked up her first rifle at age eight to help hunt food for her family. Nicknamed Little Sure Shot by Chief Sitting Bull, Annie competed in shooting competitions and starred in an act with her husband, the famous sharpshooter Frank Butler, in Buffalo Bills Wild West show. Annie Oakley gained worldwide fame and became a heroine who represented the grandeur of the Wild West.
