Marilla and Matthew Cuthbert need help on their farm, so they've adopted what they hope will be a sturdy, helpful boy. Instead, Matthew finds Anne awaiting him at the train station - imaginative, brash, redheaded Anne-with-an-e. With her place at the Cuthberts' at risk - particularly if nosy neighbour Mrs. Lynde has anything to say about it - Anne will have to learn patience, understanding and what it takes to make Green Gables her true home. Lovingly adapted by Kallie George with beautiful, nostalgic illustrations by Abigail Halpin, Anne Arrives is perfect for new fans of Anne and old.
I am an elementary school teacher and I adored this book! It is simplified just enough but not too much! It is only one piece of Anne's story, the very beginning, but it gives you a true representation of the beloved characters. I read it to my almost 4-year-old girl and she loved it! It would be great for a second to third grade reader to read independently. If you love classic literature and you want to get your little ones into it as well, this is a great start, especially for young girls! I can't wait to read the other books!
