It captivated me from the beginning!

I was taken directly into the life of the Buchanans, Nick and their town of Indianola. The characters are very well developed, I felt like I've known them for a long time. I laughed, I cried, I worried and got angry. I loved Granny and her death was sad for me. Elaine is such a great writer, read this, you won't regret it!

I LOVE ELAINE COFFMAN

The first book I read by Elain Coffman - If You Love Me. I have all the books on the Mackinnon clan except for the story on Adrian. Each time I pick-up a book, I tell myself this one will last at least a week. But I lie, I purchase, take home, open pg 1 & swallow the story by the end of that evening. And then once the book is complete, & cry because I have to go on the hunt again for another. The story was well written, it pull on you to go on; I have felt tears, sorrow, pain, despair, than happiness because the heroine gets her hero. If I could only find one in this life, but at least I can discover them in the book. I also enjoy that Elaine, always has words in her books, that you can extract & use as reflections & inspirations. This book as well her others - are true story-telling, they have good & bad moments, sorrow & happiness, mishaps & pick-ups. Lets just say this book has been added to my collections that will not be loaned, sold or thrown out. Thank you Elaine, for another insite of the beauty of love & the hope that no matter what LOVE IS POSSIBLE & True Happiness can come true.

Delicious ,Sweet and Funny

Tibbie Buchanan was a heavenly beauty, yet some still whispered about her sins. Her glorius honey-colored hair wouldn't stay hidden under her bonnet. Her drab dresses couldn't hide her alluring curves. Once she'd loved a man who'd ruined healer. Now a gifted healer and herbalist, an angel to the sick, she swore she'd never surrender to passion again.Life on the frontier had taught Nick MacKinnon some hard lessons. Orphaned yound, he'd left Texas to learn a ship builder's trade. Richer , lonlier, he came back to realize his dream - a sea going dynasty. And now Tibbie was part of that dream. But Tibbie had loved before, had known the sting of betrayal, the burden of shame. She would flee from love and imprisoned in the past, an exquisite Angel in Marble. (Text taken from book cover)I loved this book- it is sweet and so funny. It will make you laugh and cry at the same time. Usually i prefer books with more action and advneture and more passion , while this one is quite milder than my typical romance reads i was not disapointed at all. You'll get hooked with the character's - each with their own unique personality. Both the main characters are precious but there's no doubt that granny and Beth will steal some hearts too. While also making you giggle regularly. Believe me, read this book -its worth it!!

I'd like to give it 4 and a half stars instead...

...but only because of the last few of pages. Nick does something so out of character I'm still wondering if Elaine Coffman wrote it, or if some editor didn't feel the need to punch it up herself. Aside from that though I give this book the highest marks. A fully character driven historical that pulled me in from the first page and kept me in its tight grip til the end. I generally don't enjoy historicals because the authors seem so insistent on making sure that you _know_ he/she has done the research by describing so much inconsequential scenery, that if you cut it out you'd save 100 pages. I'm pleased to say Ms. Coffman doesn't do this. Just as a modern author wouldn't take 4 paragraphs to describe a television set, Ms. Coffman treats the world of Nick and Tibbie as if it deserves no special attention except for the fact that they are in it. Angel In Marble was a wonderful read - Ms. Coffman took what could have been hackneyed elements and breathed fresh life into an entirely captivating story. I really cared about the characters - even the secondary ones seemed to light up the page. I was only 50 pages into the book when I knew wanted to read the sequel. I've already ordered it. I highly recommend this one.

Can't hold the tears

This is the first book by Elaine Coffman that I read. And never be disappointed. The hero, Nick McKinnon, is irresistible, handsome, and falling head over heels to this girl Tibby Buchanan. What I really love is the way Nick tried to win Tibby's heart. He had to overcome the hurdles along the way: Tibby's cold dislike to any man who interested in her, the fact that Tibby had a child, and the lost lover who come back to her. The ending is delightful.

You'll fall in love with this book & the Mackinnon series

This is the first book of the best historical series in print! After reading this delightful, beautifully written book I couldn't wait to read the other six about the Mackinnon's. You will fall in love with the characters, including Precious the beer-drinking pig. The hero is yummy, the heroine strong, resourceful and a delight to know. Read it! You'll be glad you did.
