Fight for the Bible that took place in the sixites and seventies claimed many a confessional body as victims. However, one that was spared from this assault was the LCMS. Here Marquart provides the vital theological analysis of yeast spreading among the dough to the point where something had to give, and give it did in the explosion that was the walkout from Concordia Seminary St. Louis. Retaining its historic view of Scripture as the inerrant inspired Word of God was seen as vital to this period, but some elements that wanted a new direction are still at work. This accurate, profound record of this time provides not just analysis of that time period but also salient insight into what troubles LCMS this very day. Anatomy of an Explosion

For anyone who wants to know what splits the Lutheran Church this is your book! Rev.Marquat lays all the cards on the table in an easy to read and understand fashion. Using the Formula of Concord, he clearly explains the clear distinctions that divide the American Lutheran churchs though on the surface they seem identical in dogma and theology. He makes it clear that the shifts in church "politics" are by no means a product of the 1900's. One of the most informative books I've ever read!
