Anastasia's tenth year has some good things, like falling in love and really getting to know her grandmother, and some bad things, like finding out about an impending baby brother. This description may be from another edition of this product.
I read these books when I was a tween; about 20 years ago and adored them. My 9 year old has read two & wants more, more, more of Anastasia! I have heard her laugh out loud while she reads! Written in the 80's, these books show an innocent and sometimes hilarious view of a teenagers life with all the typical complications minus today's sex & drugs, & parties. Good, clean fun & not at all boring!
Lois lowry is a genius.

Her heroine, Anastasia Krupnik is pretty and yet insecure and awkward, like most 12-3-14 year olds are. As an asian girl living outside the US, i related very much to anastasia's little dramas, and also got a peek at what a typical American teenage girl's life is like. It was enlightening to read books like this that described how; anastasia had liked this AFrican-American schoolmate, for example. And even if this book was published in the 80s, it marked the comfortability of americans with interracial relationships. The ease of slang language and even how her parents related to her (or didnt), is something familiar to every kid growing up. And what about the school cliques? and the obsessive-compulsive lists? Lois Lowry reminds me of Douglas Coupland in that sense, only, she writes for kids (which is actually harder).

One of the major moments in my childhood came when I read that Myron Krupnik kept his poetry manuscripts in the crisper drawer of the fridge so they wouldn't burn in a fire. My father (also a poet, also an English professor) did the exact same thing. I vaguely remember jumping up and down on my bed and wanting to move to Boston. Buy these for your child, even if you're not a poet. They're wonderful.
I love this book!

This was a great book. It showed pretty much the life of a normal 10 year old girl and she copes with the challenges of everyday life. It was really funny and interesting. I wuold recommend this book and the whole series to anyone. Awesome.
Recommended to everyone - whether you're 5 years old or 50!

I laughed out loud through most of this novel. If you're in the mood for a light, easy read, this book is perfect. Anastasia gets into all sorts of silly adventures, and you'll be able to relate to her no matter how old you are. I LOVED this book!
