From years past

The authors are professors at SUNY Stony Brook. With the help of student volunteers, they helped edit this book. I actually reviewed the book for the Stony Brook Statesman and still have my copy after all these years. It is a very lenghty book at about 900 pages. It shows students edited this book and not a professional company or person. There are some gramatical and spelling errors in Ananya. It is not a sizable amount, but they are there. They might have corrected all those issues during the second run. I have a first print edition. I just have to say, it is a very informative book. There are a lot of great essays on many different topics. There is information that most Indians probably don't know about their country. Indians and non-Indians can learn a lot from this book. Overall, a very good read in terms of providing indepth information on some topics. A reader will definately know more about India after reading it.

I got this book from my uncle and do not plan to return it :-) it has excellent articles in the timeline of Indian History
