O.K., so the burning question is, are we predestined from the time we are born to live out our lives in a certain way? Of only being capable of becoming or doing some specific task in life and that's it? Limited to a fate that was preplanned in the earliest years of our lives and no matter what we do or even what we believe, we cannot change or alter that plan. A blueprint already written out, seemingly without our knowledge or consent? Does the circumstances in which we were raised in, as children, seal our fate? Leading us in a direction which we have no control over? Is it true that "I am what I am and that's all that I am and all I will ever be", written in stone? Do we have control over our circumstances as adults, or do we only think we do? Or if they are only illusions created to make us feel that we are in control? We are told we have the power to choose and change what we don't like about ourselves or our life and its surroundings. But how can we be sure? If you were predestined to go only so far and no further, than the choices you make will only justify and reflect your predestination. Destined to make only the choices that support that sealed fate. And if so, than they would not really be choices at all. How many decisions do we make every day that are unconscious to us? And if we are not aware of these unconscious decisions than how can we have control over them? How can you control or change what can't be seen? I have come to the conclusion that as children, our surrounding circumstances, our environment and the people we perceive as authority figures have a huge and profound impact on who we become as adults, for better or for worse. How we feel, our own limitations, where we live, what jobs we take or don't take. Whether we have money or don't have money. How many friends we have or don't have. How do you command the silence of an earlier time, so long ago and sometimes best forgotten? It may not be possible to forget but I believe it has to be possible to rule over it and not to be ruled by it.
