An Old -Fashioned Southern Christmas

I thoroughly enjoyed this book with the various vinettes by the different authors. Each had a slightly different way of presenting their heroes or heroines.

Four stories of Southern Christmases

This is a collection of four stories of Southern Christmases from the past. From the back of the book: "A Fairy-Tale Christmas" by Leigh Greenwood. Virginia, 1880. When she cares for a sick widower and his daughter, a lonely spinster discovers that her dreams of a happy marriage aren't as fleeting as visions of sugarplums. "A Child Is Born" by Connie Mason. Georgia, 1864. In a Civil War field hospital, a Christmas birth rekindles the flames of a long-ago love -- and brings the promise of peace on earth and goodwill toward men. "Susannah's Angel" by Nelle McFather. Georgia, 1859. A Yankee soldier and a Southern belle are torn apart by conflicting loyalties until a holiday truce teaches them the true meaning of the season. "A Warm Southern Christmas" by Susan Tanner. Mississippi, 1895. Fearful of losing his oprhaned niece and nephew, a young bachelor agrees to marry a beautiful stranger. But only a Yuletide miracle will make them a family. These stories are rich in Southern traditions and full of emotions. Each story even has a recipe at the end of each. Being a Southerner myself I could appreciate the memories of my childhood Christmases with some of these foods and traditions and even learned the meaning of why we've done it that way all of these years. These stories will just reach out and grab your heart!!!
