I have a large collection of business books which I've purchased with the best intentions of finishing each one. I hardly ever make it past the second chapter. Damn, they're hard to read! Not so this book. I found myself curious to find out what would happen to Bill Partridge next. I was also curious about how he would use the Internet to magically transform his business. I was pleasantly surprised that there were no magic solutions. The decisions he made were challenging and sometimes painful. The story felt very real. The Internet didn't even show up in the story until some 280 pages in! It was a fun ride and, unlike with almost every other business book, I enjoyed myself and learned something at the same time. Nicely done!

This is the book I wish had been available when I started my first company. Without question, everyone in business or starting a business ought to read this book before making another business decision. Written as a novel about an entrepreneur struggling to succeed in a non-technology business, the story is a fun read about how the entrepreneur takes on the challenges and opportunities that face entrepreneurs in both non-technology and high technology businesses. After reading "An Enterpreneur's Journey," business men and women who want to be successful will keep this book handy for ongoing reference. Having been involved in starting and running both internet and traditional businesses, I was impressed by this books story. Tom lays out the fundamentals of business planning & innovation in a way that most people enjoy- a great story. Each chapter not only leaves you eager to see how the story unfolds, but more importantly gives you a foundational take away to apply in your own business. Sometimes we entrepreneurial types tend to have to "learn the hard way." This book is a great tool to help prevent common problems in young companies and innovate through challenges that we might see as insurmountable. One of the biggest take-aways for me was a good reminder that our product offering's success is not based just on innovation in the product's design, but also through innovating in it's development, distribution and support. I have recommended this book to many people already and given out copies to many of the entrepreneurs and future Intrepreneurs I know. I hope you enjoy it too.
