Honest Love - refreshing read

It is so refreshing to read a book that focuses on what is really important in a relationship - trust, honesty and forgiveness. It showed that marriage is hard work but worth it. I was pleasantly surprised that the story didn't focus on just one Amish couple but two. I loved Elizabeth and Aaron's story. I could relate to Elizabeth's struggle to feel in control and good enough. Aaron had made mistakes in his past but with God's help he had turned his life around. This was a wonderful reminder of the forgiveness through Jesus Christ. I couldn't wait to see how their story would turn out - I stayed up `til 3am to finish the book. I did feel like the ending was a little abrupt though. I hope that this is because Anna, Lucas, Aaron, and Elizabeth will be minor characters in the next book. I received this book free from Thomas Nelson Publishers as part of their [...] book review bloggers program. I was not required to write a positive review.

An Honest Love???

This book"An Honest Love" made me not want to put the book down. The Author Kathleen Fuller describes pretty much how the Amish face struggles of all sorts like we do. Though there was a first book that I unfortunatly have not read. Though from the book There are two main characters one is Anna Esh and the other is Lukas. Now Anna Esh lives in a town called Middlefield. She has a shop with her her mother that they run together. She also has an uncle which of course they must take care of. Then Lukas is a guy that I think trying to be the greatest man he can be for Anna and comfort her. Anna was upset from a broken engagement. Now of course I can't give away the ending though I really want to. Just that the title completely revolves around this book and it really makes it a book worth reading as I said earlier.

A refreshing book based upon a simple life and innocent romance.

An Honest Love intertwines the lives of an Ohio Amish community. The story focuses on the new love of two, young Amish couples. Anna and Lukas find themselves as young newlyweds experiencing the shocking pain of infertility in a community where large families are the norm and widely expected. Eighteen-year-old Elisabeth finds herself attracted to older Amish man, Aaron, a convicted felon still struggling with finding his way back into the Amish community. This book gives an enlightening look into the Amish community. I could tell the author had studied the community and their customs to paint a realistic picture of the way the Amish live. This book allowed me to realize that the Amish struggle with everyday temptations of modern life, just as others do. I enjoyed this book immensely. I found myself unable to put the story aside, wanting to learn which choices Anna and Elisabeth would make in their struggles. This book was refreshing. In a book market filled with sultry, explicit love stories that leave nothing to the imagination, this book allowed me to enjoy a romantic love story with simple people. ***I received this book as part of the Nelson book review process. An Honest Love by Kathleen Fuller

This story is about Anna, whose broken engagement in a previous town caused her to guard her bruised heart; and about the community into which she moved and how the people there and their loving relationships helped draw Anna out and into a loving relationship of her own. Anna also has a secret that she fears will cause a breach in that relationship, but she eventually finds that true love can overcome. I enjoyed this story by Kathleen Fuller. Based in an Amish community, it is thought-provoking, entertaining, and inspirational all at once. The elements of romance woven throughout are realistic, as are the struggles we go through with the characters as we immerse ourselves in their stories. I'm thankful that Thomas Nelson Publishers, via BookSneeze, sent me a copy of this book to review. I enjoyed it very much.

ARGHHHH! It's Over!

This author totally drives me kookoo! It's really that bad when you finish one of her novels. There's just enough of a hint to the next one that it's just awful knowing how long you have to wait until it's published! ARGHHHH! This was such a great book - finished it in a couple of hours so it's light reading, but intense. what's really bad is when one of Ms. Fuller's books comes to the door, well, I'm late for everything until I've finished the thing! People just won't leave me alone either (or so it seems) to let me savor the moment. But anyway, be sure to get this book. It is such a nice complement to the first one, A Man of His Word. Loved that one to pieces. It explains most of the characters in the town of Middlefield, Ohio, the setting for the series, and really sets the tone for this one as well. This one can stand alone, but you really need to read Man of His Word too to get the full expression of emotion that is woven throughout Ms. Fuller's stories. One thing I missed in this story, however, was the "God moments" that Ms. Fuller has an extreme talent for relaying. In her other stories, she can aptly describe deep, personal moments between her characters and God, how God will do something that only you and He know about, and create in you the most amazing joy you've ever experienced. Ms. Fuller has done that in all of her other stories except this one, and I was disappointed not to find at least one. Like the goosebumps that always comes with those portions of her stories! Another thing I thought was interesting is that one of the main characters, Anna, uses extreme deceit to get Lukas to marry her. I thought that was a bit unique and strange since the amount of lying that was going on in this girl's life was extreme. The author then shows how they work things out between them after the wedding. This girl is horribly selfish and I would think that if she loved her man that much, that she would have been truthful with him ahead of the wedding. Anyway, other than that, this is a great, great book, kept me turning pages from the beginning. Just wish this lady could write a wee bit faster! Now I have to wait until September for the next one. Golly! HIGHLY recommend!
