Ripping 70s WW II Thriller

A team of Germans agree to assist U.S. intelligence agents in killing Hitler before war can overtake all of Europe. There's just one catch. The Americans in turn have to agree to take out F.D.R. That's the set-up for this counter-factual thriller in the vein of Forsthye and Higgins and it's terrifically effective. You root for one team to suceed and another fail, all the while knowing how things turn out. It may not be finely written, but it's not at all deficient in the writing either, and there's not a lot of back stories or heroics that clutter similar tales. In fact, the sophisticated, shifting point of view doesn't take sides in who's heroic and who the villains are. There's a lot of good period detail.
