The power of intrinsic motivation made clear

This is a teacher's book, written by teachers, for teachers--but parents will find it valuable, too. As "informed customers" they should read it and demand that their children's schools are run this way. The focus of this book is the elementary classroom, and many ways that it can become a nurturing, fascinating, enjoyable and rewarding place for children to grow and expand their minds. It is written in a very accessible manner: pleasant and fairly quick to read but never intellectually "lite." It has nothing to do with standardized testing, and everything to do with high-quality, academically sound education at its best--for children of all socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds.
