Eye-opening read

This is such an interesting and often times, heartbreaking look into the prison system. The author alternates between their own experiences as an undercover correctional officer and the history of the prison system. Though the stories revolving around the history were slow at times, I was completely engulfed in the authors experiences at the prison. Bauer’s research and reporting is phenomenal and this book is so well written that it’s disturbing at times. Definitely a must read.
