Being an entertainer myself, and being raised in the Medicine Show/Toby Tent Show era, I was very impressed with Brooks MacNamara's books on the subject. The man did his research well, and I highly recommend both American Popular Entertainmets, as well as Step Right Up. Fine reading indeed for those who like to remember the "old days" of entertainment before all the glitz.
