Early Americana

The year is 1899, the story is a historical romance written around New York and the immigrants who made America what she is today. Lucia Kolska and Jamie Kelly meet on Ellis Island the very first day Lucia arrives in New York to join her brother. The attraction between Lucia and Jamie is immediate, and evolves into a lifelong love, as the entire story weaves the dreams, ideas and customs that the Ellis Island immigrants brought to America. A secondary love story in the book revolves around Lucia's brother, Stefan and his fiance, Greta. This is a truly excellent book that was impeccably researched and relies heavily on historical fact to produce the conflicts and challenges that was faced by our ancestors who were lucky or unlucky enough to arrive in America via Ellis Island. By the way, this is a "sweet" romance that stays within the sexual mores of the time period.
