A historical and institutional approach in discussing the American government, this edition includes: increased attention to the analytic narrative; and a critical examination of institutional reform.
The Purchase: I really needed this book for my class, so I was really happy that it arrived so quickly. The book was used, but in very good condition when I got it, and the price was very cheap. Overall, it was a good buying experience. The book: I found the book to be quite easy to read. I also found out that you can use the code for the online reader over and over again, which is great because I have readings assigned on the online reader.
Great introduction to American politics

I had to buy this book as a textbook for an intro American government class, and it's one of the books I decided not to sell after the end of the semester. It gives a basic rundown of all the branches of government, and incorporates recent U.S. history to further explain theories. (Using President Bush and the Iraq War to explain the powers of the president was a highlight.) Best of all, it's in a language that the everyday American can understand - even those who never went to college. I'd recommend this to everyone who forgot what they learned in high school civics, right in the same breath as the "For Dummies" line of books.
College Textbook

I had to buy this book for a Political Science course at a Private College. The book is thorough and descriptive. It helped a great deal with the course.
Great subject matter, great service

The book.. I'm using it for college, so it's not like I'm reading this for fun. I wouldn't buy it under reading for pleasure purposes... but for the purposes of education it is a great buy.
Great details but not many pictures

If your expecting a book with many pictures, this is not the book for you. But it gives good details on changes since our country began. At the begining of each chapter is a time line on what the chapter is about. I would recommend this book.
