Not the same old stuff and thats what make it good.

I own almost every book Ralph Cotton has written except for a couple that are very hard to get copies of. I have read every Ranger Burrack book except for two which I own but have not read yet. I'm saving them since I expect at the rate Ralph puts out great books that he is going to wear out his keyboard one day and there may be a long delay between books so I'll still have something enjoyable to read. Just kidding but as for this book, while I have to agree that this story doesn't fit exactly into the typical western mold (Aztec's, rituals, etc.) I applaud Mr. Cotton for creating something with a different twist on the typical western. I really enjoyed this book! It is a bit more violent and graphic but I found that it fit within the context of what the story was about. The Aztec's customs were very bloody. I found the violence to be on par with one of Ralph's earlier books "Hells Riders" which was about a bunch of scalp hunters. The type of people that enjoyed gory behavior. If you think the subject matter of this story is not to your liking then I suggest checking out one of the other Ranger Burrack books. There are plenty of them with typical (but great) western settings. I for one really enjoyed this book and hope Mr. Cotton continues with some non-typical stories every once in a while.

Another Great Western

If you are a Ralph Cotton fan you won't be disappointed by this one, or any of his others. I have said before that this writer has a talent for putting the reader right there in the story. There are few authors who can do it, but Mister Cotton knows how. I won't give away the story but Ambush Valley is another tale with Hole In The Wall leader Memphis Warren Beck in it. A great story, with all the trimmings. It even tells how they made dynamite in the old days. Congrats again Mister Cotton. My shelf is full of your books and keeps growing.
