When we brought our daughter home from the hospital, we did not have any idea what our future was going to look like and no way to anticipate how her story would unfold. Livvy's story is one of hurdles and roadblocks, of intervention, perseverance, hope, and miracles. Professionally, I am a special educator. I taught 6-8-year-old students with autism when I was a classroom teacher and I have since been on a career path of education and intervention in motion. However, while my professional experience gave me the tools and preparation I needed to intervene on my daughter's behalf, it is my experience as her mother that brought me to this point. The point of this book is to give parents hope, resources, and some insight into the value of early intervention. Sometimes I wonder where my daughter would be if we had not intervened so intensely, or worse, at all. The truth?
