Helpful Commentary

I've had several of Lockyer's books on my shelves for years. They are great references to poke through when considering a particular miracle or parable, etc. One thing I like about this book (in contrast to the commentary sections in the margins of most Bibles) is that he is comments on each miracle separately but with reference to all applicable gospels. He includes comments from various sources (not just his own opinions). With regard to an anti-Catholic sentiment, I can't really speak to that. I don't agree with all of Lockyer's comments on every issue, but I find his books to be a helpful starting point.

A Compendium on "All" the Miracles of the Bible

Alas, Dr. Lockyer's important book fell under the crushing heel of a Roman Catholic apologist who says he just "tore up" the book. More's the pity. I can't ever recall tearing up a scholarly book whether I agreed with it or not. We always have the option of calling Good Will and making a book available to someone who wants or needs it. For my part, I found Locker's work a useful tool for spotting the Miracles in the Old and New Testaments. Intrigued by the clear evidence that early AAs were cured of alcoholism by the power of God and said so, I wrote the title When Early AAs Were Cured and Why. I cited the Lockyer book along with a host of other books on healings and miracles through the ages. I looked at Lockyer's citations, not his views on Roman Catholicism. I am still researching and writing on healings by the power of God, and I am very thankful that this resource places the whole lot in one book. Lockyer makes the point that the Bible itself is a miracle. Good for him. And he questions some of the middle ages healing claims, which is commendable. Lots call themselves healers. Lots led healing movements. And lots can be mislead by questionable healing claims. The central facts of the Bible are intact here: God heals. Jesus healed. The Apostles healed. First Century Christians healed as the Book of Acts records. And it is important to put the spotlight on the verses and segments which document the miracles.Much of the unbelief in today's recovery scene comes from ignorance of the vast span of healing at the hands, and by the power, of our Creator Yahweh. This book is a help in bringing specific light to the scene.
