Gripping, poetic historical fiction

The author does a seamless job of weaving together plot-lines from the past and present, making a poetically and beautifully written vivid world that is historically accurate and immersive. It’s more character focused, but is also about historical patterns, the relation of distant past and the present in the same physical location, and adapting to circumstances. Only 5 stars because it didn’t change my life, but it is more than worth the read.
