wow, what fun!

I really enjoyed this book! It was fun, suspenseful, and it knew when to end. I would much rather read a 300 page book that is entertaining, gets to the point and keeps you turning the pages, than a 500 page story that drags on and on, making you long for the ending. Blaine Avery is a beautiful, young vibrant woman who was suspected but never charged in the apparent suicide death of her older and wealthy husband. Now, 6 months later, people around Blaine are dying, shortly after being in her company. Are the rumors true? Is Blaine a cold-hearted killer, or is she being setup to take the blame for someone elses' crimes? Blaine claims to receive mysterious phone calls playing childrens songs right before the bodies are discovered. Is she lying to throw the police off track? This book flowed so easily and was over before I knew it. It is a completely entertaining read. It won't take long to finish this book, but you'll be glad you took the time.

Never ending suspense

This was only the second book by this author that I had read and I was not particularly impressed with the first one. I am however very glad that I bought this one. It is probably the best mystery I have read. It hooks you from the very first page and never lets up. It was filled with clever twists and turns that have you thinking that you know who the killer must be. Then all of a sudden, you are hit with the startling truth. Blaine Avery lost her husband to an unexpected suicide just six months prior. She is left with the man's teenage daughter who doesn't care for her much. The sheriff Logan Quint was the first to accuse Blaine of murdering her crippled husband, yet found no evidence to convict her. Now six months later, the daughter's best friend is found murdered on Blaine's property and the act is made to look like suicide. The evidence quickly shifts to Blaine as she continues to find other victims. Logan tries to give her the benefit of the doubt, but even he finds it hard to believe it is coincidence. The killer is definitely fixated on Blaine. The closer she gets to finding the truth, the more her life is in jeopardy. Can she get out of this nightmare before it is too late?

Perfection

Carlene Thompson has to be one of the best mystery writers around. I have just discovered her and have now ordered and started reading all of her books. She always keeps me guessing until the last pages. I can never out guess her. What a wonderful writer.

kept me hooked!

I loved this book! There were so many worthy suspects that you were never sure who the murderer was and then when it unravels at the end you are totally shocked! Great, fun read and hard to put down. This was the first Carlene Thompson book I have ever read and I loved it. I just ordered all her others. If you enjoy a good mystery mixed with a bit of romance, this book is for you!

The best book I have ever read!!!

The book was a great thriller. I am a former student of Carlene Thompson, When she taught at the University of Rio Grande. I enjoyed her as a teacher and as a writer. I give this book two thumbs up!!!
