book for reading and independent exploration

We purchased this book for my son when he was almost 3 years old. He loved it. The concepts, flaps and slides were simple enough for him to explore and move on his own, as well as with us reading to him. He loved that sense of independence. When he was about 5 he lost some interest in this book in favor ofmore complex popup books, but still enjoyed having in out during the fall. Now his little sister is almost three and once again it is a favorite book in the house and is read again and again both with an adult and through independent exploration. Although the slides and flaps have been moved countless times, they are showing very little wear. The slides get stuck occasionally, but overall work quite smoothly. We are very happy with the purchase.
