Fun, Sexy and Smart, this book ROCKS!

This book had everything I like in a book, a spunky heroine who has real life flaws and endearing quirks. A mysterious, sexy hero who knows how to treat a lady--and a Scottish accent to boot, yum! And a plot that kept me entertained until the very last page. What could be better than that? It looks like there will be another book in the series next year! Yay! This one is staying on my keeper shelf.

Fun, sexy page-turner

Having embarrassed herself by losing her professional cool at an audition in Atlantic City, Evie desperately jumps at the next job offered to her by her manager/ex-husband. Now she's got a gig on a cruise ship, but it's not what this actress was expecting. She's playing "Sugar" a ditzy, former Vegas showgirl and the husband of wealthy novelist Arch, and she doesn't know all the rules (or any of the players) as "Sugar" and Arch play their own game of "To Catch a Thief." Evie is an endearing character that I rooted for from page one and the book is a fun, sexy page-turner. I can't wait to read the next in the series to find out what happens!

You're Going to Love This One!!!

Evie Parish is sick and tired of being rejected due to her age. So what she's a little over forty. It doesn't mean she can't sing, dance, and act with the best of them. She's a darn good character actress and she needs a job! But, when she goes on her latest audition and it doesn't net her a job offer...but does allow her to step momentarily out of her safe boundary, she knows something is going to have to give. So...she goes to her ex-husband who is her manager needing to explain why she probably didn't get the job while at the same time wrangle another call from him when fate steps in the way. Someone needs a character actress to play the role of Sugar Dupont. A retired Vegas showgirl now married to a doting, rich older husband Charles Dupont. She has to set sail (no problem Dramamine will fix any issues) on a cruise ship and have fun. Yeah...she can do that. What she isn't counting on is her "husband" is far from old and unattractive when not in costume and there is just something about him that makes her heart go crazy. Arch, who has the yummiest accent...to match the droolable body makes Evie wonder if maybe she can't mix business with pleasure. After all he's her roommate and all the PDA they're participating as Charles and Sugar is building to explosive proportions. In the end she needs to be professional, a lot is weighing on the success of this gig. What she's not sure of...but she knows it's important. After all she's not there to fall in love...er lust. Is she? First off I am not one to enjoy a story told in 1st person. I'm nosy and I want to know what everyone is thinking and feeling. I don't like to be left out. Ms. Ciotta on the other hand does a fantastic job of narrating this story from a well crafted protagonist and as a result I didn't feel short changed. In fact I loved every moment. Evie is a total hoot and it was wonderful to see a more mature character take on the role of lead in this laugh out loud romp. This is a fast paced well populated read that will ensnare the reader from the first chapter. Ms. Ciotta has grown remarkably from her first stories but what hasn't changed is her ability to touch the reader with her words. She can still make a reader smile with a turn of phrase. This is an incredible talent. This is one story you MUST add to your summer reading list. I can't wait for the next in the series.

FUN, FUNNY AND SEXY

You should get this book right away. I fell in love with Evie and Arch. I found myself really rooting for her. I can't wait for book 2 of the series. I can tell Evie also has some chemistry with Milo. What a cool spin!!!! This book really made me smile. I had a great time reading it and highly recommend it to ALL romantic fiction readers!

amusing romantic suspense

Fortyish actress Evie Parish knows she is at the breaking point of her career as she is getting fewer parts since most casting directors prefer younger women. Adding to her feeling that she is getting old is being dumped by her now former husband for a younger female. Evie is desperate as even the few parts she was offered seem to have dried up. Knowing how low she has gone, Evie accepts a job she would not have considered just a couple of years ago. On a cruise ship, she is to assist novelist Arch Reese by pretending to be Sugar Dupont, a former ditzy Vegas showgirl who he just married. The objective is to con a con artist. However, neither the writer nor the actress expected that their performance would be real. ALL ABOUT EVIE is a terrific contemporary romance starring two interesting protagonists. Readers will cherish the "discussions" between the actress and the author as their exchanges are humorous and often filled with double entendres whether they are themselves of in character. Beth Ciotta provides an amusing romantic suspense with the emphasis on a sea cruise romance that will continue if Evie has her way long after the ship docks. Harriet Klausner
