Windows Vista Bible by Alan Simpson

I have another book by Alan Simpson the XP bible and it has helped me out numerous times so it was the first book I purchased when I was forced to switch to Vista. I think he writes in a clear easy to understand manner and everything is categorized in chapters and the index, for quick location.I don't find this a book one would read cover to cover but as a reference its indispensible. I find more answers through this than from any help program or asking others. The only reason I would not give it a five is because of its size, its a super thick full of information book but its cumbersome to keep on your desk or on your lap it wont stay open it has so many pages! Not really a complaint but I think perhaps a wire ring or coil binding might make it easier to deal with due to its size.

The Best

Window's Vista Bible by Alan Simpson is the best. It is like having the author sitting with you personally. Everything is clearly explained and I haven't come across a Vista or computer topic that is not discussed. He also includes a lot of extra notes and tips. I can't imagine any book like this being written any better.

Somewhat, but not Totally Helpful

Borrowed this book for assistance in transferring and setting up 4,000+ photos from Windows XP into numerous folders. The directions by Simpson given did provide what appear to be the promised results - an invaluable contribution. Next, I tried using the book to set up a screen-saver using my photos. The dialog box referenced in the book did not exist - no help at all. Have since returned the book; I'm thinking 50% assistance is not that good.
