Does what it sets out to do

The book does exactly what it sets out to do: Thoroughly document and analyze the evolution of U.S. airlift doctrine, from the birth of aviation until the early 1980s. Airborne operations are included, but only in the sense it judges the troop-carriers' ability to put the paratroopers on the target box. The book was written in the early 1990s for the U.S. Air Force staff and command school at Maxwell Air Force base. As one would imagine, it is not the most interesting subject, and I can't imagine that anyone (other than me) would read this for non-work related reasons.
