Self-Discovery in 1930's Texas

Highly evocative of time and place, AIRFIELD tells the story of Texas teenager Beatty who travels from aunt to aunt, three rotations per year in the 1930's. Passionate about flying, Beatty spends a summer exploring her flying heritage from her dead stunt mom to her close-lipped and emotionally distant pilot dad. It is Beatty's friendship with the migrant Moss, though, that brings Beatty's personality and longing for roots home to the reader. We love her spunkiness, her strong will, her generous heart. Beatty won't soon be forgotten.
