Fantastic!

The title alone is a winner. This book offers a look from the same sex point of view. Love is love no matter what gender is the meaning that I received from the book. The title can be used in everyday life and should be everyone's motto. Stevie grows from a young college girl into a cofident and self-loving woman.

Sinclair is always amazing!

I have read all 3 of April Sinclair's books and I have found them all to be wonderful. Her books are full of emotion and humor. This book was my favorite. It made me laugh and relate to the fact that life is full of new beginnings. And that all mistakes are a part of living. Her books always make me smile :-) Write another one!

Really down to earth....humorous, yet touches the heart

I read this book after reading "Coffee Will Make you Black." April Sinclair is an excellent writer. She really dives into some of the issues confronting African American women in the 70's. Stevie must find the courage to find out who she really is. Then her struggle becomes that of her acceptance. I recommend this book to all women, whether they are black or not! Very good reading!!

This book breaks the barriers!

This book is good for anyone. It was even better than its predecessor "Coffee Will Make You Black." It illustrates the questions that a lot of people have when going through the natural changes and growth in life; while also relating the experience of being black in 70s America. For those of us who are unaware of the things that homosexuals encounter, on a first hand basis, this book illustrates them vividly.

If you like smooth writing about the 70s, this is the place

April Sinclair has written a thoughtful, often hilarious look at the early and mid 70s through the eyes of her protagonist Stevie, who moves from Chicago to San Francisco after finishing college. While her family thinks she wants to stay in the City because of some guy she's met, Stevie is exploring her growing lesbian tendencies in the maelstrom of mid-70s S.F. The coming-out scene on the phone with her mother is a classic! A great follow-up to COFFEE WILL MAKE YOU BLACK and a wonderful coming-of-age novel for any reader, white or black, gay or straight. Sinclair is a true storyteller with the authenticity of the spoken word. Highly recommended.
