Simply beautiful

Dayle Haddon's Ageless Beauty is the only book that I have come across which speaks to women about the "composite of beauty" - addressing physical concerns, as well as practical solutions to life's dilemmas. I purchased this book as a gift for my wife and she kept interrupting me as she across pages that she found interesting. Hopefully, women will be able to dive into the chapters about community, laughter, stress reduction and begin to understand beauty - the kind of beauty Dayle writes about - as self-image, confidence and developing a greater sense of self and community. As a former photographer, I was impressed with the use of photographs by the "greats" in the fashion industry - Peggy Sirota, Guy Bourdin to name a few. Think of this book as a practical guide to developing a fuller life.

Every woman over 40 should read this book!

I was very impressed with this book. Ms. Haddon gives sound advice to those of us over 40. One aspect of the book that I found to be appealing was the fact that everything mentioned in the book are things that anyone can do. Ms. Haddon certainly gave me a push in the right direction. I don't feel as down in the dumps about being over 40 after I read this book. It was truly inspirational. I didn't find any of the outrageous suggestions made in other beauty/well-being books. Every suggestion is one that is easily attainable for women of all budgets, not just the very wealthy. Although it is obvious that Ms. Haddon is a very beautiful woman, I never felt that the information/suggestions she presented was beyond my grasp, or unattainable by a working, middle-class woman, such as myself. This book is about taking good care of what you already have and enhancing it as best you can. I purchased this book about a month ago, have read it cover to cover, and have gone back to it many times. Ms. Haddon covers virtually every aspect of my concerns as a woman who is no longer 30. One item I found to be particulary appealing was the "personal touch", Ms. Haddon was warm and open about her feelings, past hurts, etc. I felt as if I could meet her on the street and strike up a conversation without any pretense. I plan on giving this book as a gift to many of my friends. Good job, Ms. Haddon! I hope you will write another book very soon!

not just for 40 and up

Although this book is basically geared for women 40 and up, i found this book more than inspirational, it's my guide for life.Browsing the shelves for a book about fashoin, nutrition, and "how to live a stress free life" i came accross "Ageless Beauty", the book looked so attractive sitting on the shelf, i just had to have it! I read the book in one day, soaking up each word, all the while wanting to write to the author and tell her she had hit on all the personal aspects that i was dealing with! I am 25 and this book has inspired me more than any other book i've ever read, and college students have to read allot! :) not only have i taken all of her advise, but it's all worked for me! I've lost weight, i'm healthier and stronger than i was at sixteen and i've learned ways of taking control of myself in ways that don't just help me, they pamper me. I am a firm believer that allllll women deserve this! I can't imagine anyone not feeling the same as myself after reading this great book! She's entertaining and down to earth and i only wish that more women under 40 would read it, i am certain that there are more 25 year olds who need the advice and wisdom and the uplifting that Haddon's book can give!

A useful book

Haddon's book contains a lot of useful information for those of us who are no longer in our teens, and points out some beauty mistakes we make as we age (such as putting our blusher on wrong or choosing the same colors we did in our 20's). This is one of the few books that addresses how to adjust your look as you age. She also gives good advice on health and exercise aimed at more mature bodies. Know going in that Haddon is beautiful, rich, and a spokeswoman for L'Oreal. Her photos are airbrushed so you don't see a single line in her face. Also, we don't all have the financial resources that Haddon has, so you have to adapt much of her advice to fit your budget. I also own the Beauty Bible, which is a better all-around book, but Haddon's book is more tailored to the needs of the over 40 crowd. It's a rich, lovely book with some gorgeous photos.

really good for the 40-plus ego

I think Dayle Haddon is addressing a very important point: you can still feel and look good into your forties and beyond. You can still take care of your face and body but also remember it's a mind-set -- enjoy your wisdom, your experiences and don't be afraid to be a different sort of beautiful, but just as valid, as you were in your twenties. None of us look 25 when we are 45 and we should not feel that we have to. We are still gorgeous. You have to believe it. Overall, don't be afraid of change and finding ways to be better. That is what I got out of the book and it's a darned important message that women in their forties sometimes forget. Thanks Dayle.
